Townsend Warner History Competition

Early in the Spring Term several boys sat down to take part in this competition for pupils in preparatory schools. Around 800 competitors are involved in this countrywide contest. Part One consists of about 100 short questions. Several of our team emerged successfully from the challenges of Part One and were able to sit Part Two later in the term. Part Two is a much more challenging paper, requiring the ability to write at length on chosen topics from a vast list of novel situations and questions. Adam Goodbody was our best placed competitor and won a book token for £15; letters of commendation were awarded to Nick Marrin, Thomas Ames, Marco Hughes, Jamie Baty, Theo Caplan and James Crompton.
