Still life on table — David Pinto
This month, David Pinto 2Y, has been selected as our Pupil Artist. David has produced a body of work that focuses on the natural world. He has recorded animals and plants both directly from life and second-hand sources. The quality of observation is excellent in both his drawings and his paintings.
The thing that really impresses about David’s work is his feeling for materials. The charcoal works seen below and to the right utilise both linear variety and broad areas of soft, velvety tones. In his painting, he uses both soft, subtle washes of pale colour and more deliberate application of brushstrokes. The resulting work is very expressive.
